Pay Rate: $18-$20/hour
2nd Shift: 3:45 p.m. - 11:45 p.m./Weekends as needed.

As a Food Sanitation Lead, you will be responsible for and assist in the coordination of the detailed daily cleaning of equipment and structures in our food manufacturing environment using specialized equipment and techniques. Your major role on our sanitation team will be to manage and document the clean following production shifts by breaking down the production equipment to scrub, scrape, wash, and sanitize.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily facility sanitation and custodial duties according to Sanitation Master Schedule.
  • Clean all production areas according to SQF regulations, GMP, and sanitation policies.
  • Disassemble machines, sanitize, foam rinse, and reassemble production lines for use.
  • Clean and sanitize production line operating equipment (ovens, mixers, etc.)
  • Clean and sanitize baking equipment including bins, trays, etc.
  • Use power equipment such as floor sweepers, vacuums, scrubbers, mops, power washers.
  • Operate floor scrubber to clean concrete flooring.
  • Sweep and mop work areas.
  • Discard all inedible food, corrugate and other packing material.
  • Operate cleaning systems and equipment as trained and specified.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of equipment, proper LOTO procedure for machinery.
  • Responsible for general plant cleanliness with the expectation of being inspection-ready.
  • Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
  • Perform all other assigned tasks included: Walls inside and outside the company, silos, ceilings, and any type of stairs.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the sanitation supervisor.

Chemical Training and Handling:

  • Develop and provide training to sanitation team members on the correct use, safe handling, and proper storage of cleaning chemicals used in the plant.

Inspections & Compliance:

  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify sanitation issues and ensure cleanliness standards are met.
  • Monitor and report any non-compliance issues, equipment malfunctions, or areas requiring attention to management.
  • Collaborate with the quality control and safety teams to ensure the facility complies with food safety standards such as HACCP and GMPs.
  • Perform micro swabbing and testing in accordance to our micro programs.

Record Keeping & Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, inspection reports, and sanitation activities.

Health & Safety:

  • Ensure all sanitation team members follow health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in safety training and promote a culture of cleanliness and safety throughout the facility.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common industry, production, and technical documents in English.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient understanding of sanitation procedures and equipment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills within a team environment.
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced environment with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Ability to comprehend and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic math skills and ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Prior proficiency in equipment uses and operation.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of sanitation experience in a manufacturing setting (food manufacturing preferred but not required)
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and communicate safety labels on chemical containers.

Physical Requirements:

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability of adjusting or moving objects of varying weights up to 50 lbs. in all directions.
  • Ability to communicate with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.
  • Ability to withstand various climates through the facility i.e. freezer, dock, production (as low as -15 degrees up to 110 degrees)
  • Ability to work in an environment with flashing lights, horns, and powered moving equipment operating in proximity.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking and/or remaining in a stationary position and often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to move self into different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and/or confined spaces.
  • Must be physically able to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, ramps, poles and scaffolding.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out.
  • Adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects.
  • See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Adaptability to work in diverse environments and surfaces.
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment as needed.
  • Stand and move around the manufacturing floor for up to 8 hours.
  • Capability to stand, walk, squat, and perform repetitive tasks.

Weekly Responsibilities

Monday through Thursday:
Work as a Sanitation Technician, completing assigned cleaning tasks from the first shift lead.
Responsibilities include:

    • Cleaning and sanitizing all production areas according to SQF, GMP, and sanitation policies.
    • Disassembling, foaming, rinsing, sanitizing, and reassembling production lines and equipment (ovens, mixers, conveyors, etc.).
    • Cleaning and sanitizing baking equipment such as trays, containers, hoppers, silos, and walls.
    • Operating cleaning equipment such as sweepers, vacuums, scrubbers, pressure washers, mops, and brooms.
    • Maintaining cleanliness in common areas (restrooms, break room).
    • Disposing of inedible materials, corrugated boxes, and other waste properly.
    • Always keep the facility inspection ready.

Friday:

    • Supervise and support the second shift sanitation team.
    • Inspect cleaning areas, train new employees, and document training sessions.
    • Conduct training in proper chemical use and safety procedures.
    • Maintain all documentation related to Friday sanitation activities and training.
    • During the First Shift Lead’s Vacation:
      Temporarily assume the leadership position to ensure continuity of cleaning operations and compliance with all food safety standards.
